CONFORMATIONAL CHANGES IN VIRAL GLYCOPROTEINS
Micro Movements deals with the scientifically accurate visualization of protein structures based on the publicly available data sets of the Protein Data Bank (RCSB). The project thereby focuses on the visualization of conformational changes in viral proteins, more precisely viral glycoproteins. Proteins do not always have the same spatial structure. They shift their shapes among other things in order to bind to other proteins. This work makes it possible to explore the conformational changes of several envelope proteins in VR, fast-forward or rewind them, take a closer look at the shape-shifting of single amino acid chains and get information on the function of the whole protein or single parts.
